We arrange the provision of an extensive range of aged support and disability services for people in their private home and community.

Support Workers are supported by Southern Cross' skilled Service and Admin team to gain the skills neccessary to provide this care in the community.

Southern Cross is seeking motivated, caring and committed individuals as Disability Support Workers.

This 24 hour, 7 day disability support service is provided in supported accomodation with a well established existing team of dedicated people and would be well suited to someone who has the flexibility to work a variety of hours and also be willing to provide cover when other team members are absent.

You will work in shared accomodation which supports three (3) individuals with varied disabilities. The goal is to assist them to maintain their independence and be involved in the community.

Duties may include:

  • Assistance with Personal care tasks 
  • Medication administration 
  • Assistance with Therapy tasks
  • Use of Mobility equipment – e.g. hoist, wheelchair, shower chair
  • Light Domestic assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Community participation – e.g. medical appointments, Shopping and/or social outings

Service delivery times

Various shifts rostered daily

  • 9.45pm to 9am Monday to Sunday (active overnight)

Requirements

  • Current references
  • Mobile phone
  • Current drivers licence and reliable vehicle
  • Valid paid Blue Card

As part of the application process, all successful applicants must receive a National Criminal History Clearance and need to obtain a Working with Children Clearance to commence working as a Support Worker.
